Week of December 17th

Stats:  On Monday, Students will be taking their chapter 4 test.  Then students will be given all notes form chapter 5.  Be sure to start studying for the midterm if you haven't done so already!

Practical Geometry:  Students will continue with square roots and apply the to solving equations involving the pythagorean theorem.

Calculus:  Students will continue to work on lesson 4.3 involving the first and second derivative test.  Students must also know how to find the local extremes and inflection points.  Students will be given a quiz on lessons 4.1 through 4.3.  Then students will finish the week with an optimization problem.

Week of December 10th

Stats:  Students will finish homework from lesson 4.5 this week before taking their chapter 4 test.  The homework can be found on page 220.  Then student wll move into chapter 5, frequency distributions.

Calculus:  Students will finish lesson 4.2 and 4.3 before taking a test on the first three lessons of chapter 4 on Friday.  The homework will be found on pages 203-205.

Practical Geometry:  Students will test on chapter 10 (similar figures) by Wednesday.  Then they will learn how to calculate, simplyify and rationalize square roots.

Week of 12/3

Calculus:  This week, we will begin chapter 4, applications of derivatives.  Students will have assignments on page 184, #'s 2-30 even and page 192, #'s 2-18 even, 35-37.

Statistics:  Students will begin the week by completing problems on page 210 by using the multiplication rule of probability.  Then they will begin to work with the counting rules of probability and complete page 220 for homework.

Practical Geometry:  Students will finish preparing for the Keystone Assessments.

Week of 11/27

Calculus:  Students will begin the week working on derivatives of exponential functions.  They will complete page 170 for homework.  Then on Friday, students will have their cjapter 3 test.

Stats:  Students will complete page 193, Addition rule for probability, for homework.  Then they will begin the Multiplication rule and complete page 209 for homework.

Practical Geometry:  Sudents will be working on standards assessed for the keystone exam to serve as review for the test all week.

Week of November 19th

Statistics:  Students should have completed page 185, #'s 6-15 and 16-30 even for homework.  Then they will be taking notes on Adding Rules of Probability in class.

Calculus:  Students are currently working on implicit differentiation and derivatives of inverse trig functions.  After Thanksgiving break, students will resume with derivatives of exponential and logrythmic functions.  That will be followed by their chapter 3 test on derivatives.

Practical Geometry:  Students are currently preparing for their Keystone exam on Algebra 1.  All students are encouraged to be using study island.

Week of Monday 11/12

Calculus: Page 146, #'s 2-24 even (chain rule) and memorize both the rules for differentiating trig functions and their inverses.

Statistics: Chapter 10 test Tuesday. Then page 185, #'s 10-36 for homework.

Practical Geometry: We are finishing up area, perimeter and circumference of geometric shapes with our test on Tuesday afternoon. Then we will move into similar figures.

Week of 10/22

Practical Geometry:  This week we will be working on Properties of parallelograms with the chapter test coming at the end of the week.

Statistics:  We are beginning our chapter on regression (10) and we will be working through our project on bungee chords.  Students will be asked to complete page 541, #'s 12-26 even.

Calculus:  Students will begin the week working on Velocity and Rates of Change by completing homework on page 129.  Then after a activity, students will begin to memorize and solve for derivatives of trig functions.

Week of 10/15

Practical Geometry:   We will be finishing up chapter 7 this week and taking our next test on this chapter on Wednesday.  Please Study your parallel lines.

Stats:  Tonight for homework is page 157, #'s 1 - 14.  Test on Chapter 3 is scheduled for Wednesday.  On Thursday, we will begin regression analysis (Chapter 10) which will include our bungee barbie project.

Calculus:  Quiz tomorrow on the rules for derivatives.  Complete the worksheet given in class today for homework.  Next we move into studying various rates of change.

Week of October 1st

Practical Geometry:   This week we will finish working on chapter 5 and then begin working through congruent triangles.  This will include: SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS and congruences for right triangles as well.


Calculus:  We will complete lesson 3.1 found on page 101 for Monday, 3.2 Differentiability for Tuesday and3.3 Rules of differentiation on Thursday.


Statistics:  On Monday, students will start lesson 3.3 on page 129 for homework and finish the lesson by Wednesday.  Then they will move into 3.4 Measures of position by Thursday.

Week of September 24!

Practical Geometry:  Test for Chapter 3 Monday.  Then we will begin chapter 4 on Translations, Congruences and corresponding parts.

Statistics:  All classes did extremely well on chapter 2 test!  Great Job.  This week, we will begin working on measures of central tendency and complete an assignment on lesson 3-1.  We will also be completing a statistcal study between fast food and athletes as well.


Calculus:  Students will begin working on derivatives in chapter 3 where they will complete an assignment on page 101 on finding derivatives of functions and then another on page 111 that requires students to identify if a funtion is not differentiable.

Week of September 17th

Stats:  Homework will be assigned on lessons 2-3 and 2-4 for Monday.  Test will be on Wednesday and then we will begin working on data description in chapter 3.

Practical Geometry:  There will be a chapter 2 test Monday morning.  Then we will move into chapter 3 polygons and polyhedrons.  Students will complete worksheets from lesson 3-1 to lesson 3-5 for the remainder of the week.


Calculus:  Students will begin the week by working on lesson 2-4 Rates of change and Tangent and normal lines.  They will be required to complete an assignment on page 87.  Then there will be a test on Wednesday for chapter 2.  Next, we will begin working on derivatives in chapter 3 and the students will have an assignment from page 101.

Week of September 4th.

Stats for the week:  Finishing chapter 1 with page 26, #'s 6,8,9,12 and 17.  Quiz on Wednesday.  Then on thursday we will start working on chapter 2, Frequency distributions.

Calculus:  Students are to hand in lesson 2.1 as we begin learning about limits approaching infinity.  Students will complete lesson 2.2 as an assignment before taking a quiz on limits and moving on to continuity.

Practical Geometry:  Test on Unit 1 tomorrow. Be sure to study how to construct perpendicular bisectors.  Later this week, we will begin Unit 2 on angles and pairs of angles.

First Week of School! 8/27

Welcome to class!

Practical Geometry:  The students will be introduced to class and receive any and all neccessary information for the course.  This week we will be working on chapter 1 "Language on Plane Geometry."  Expect their first test at the end of the week.  Each day, students will receive a small hands on activity, a brief lesson and two short worksheets to complete in class.  If they do not finish, they will be assigned for homework.

Statistics:  The students will be introduced to class and receive any and all neccessary information and materials for the course.  On Tuesday we will begin to take notes on chapter 1 "The nature of Probabilty and Statistics."  this will last into thursday as there are many terms and definitions to review.  Then we will have a class activity on different techniques of sampling followed by a quiz on Friday involving key components of chapter 1.

Calculus:  The students will be introduced to class and receive any and all neccessary information and materials for the course.  On Tuesday, we will begin imediately with chapter 2 "Limits and Continuity."  In lesson 2.1, students will learn about rates of change and limits approaching finite values.  They will complete homework on page 62, 2-28 even and 31, 32.  Then we will move into Limits approaching infinity and complete work on page 71.

Stats:  Chapter 8 test on Wednesday.  Then the students will prepare thier gameshow.

Calculus:  Students will be working on finding area enclosed by two curves.  They will complete lesson 7-2 for homework.

Stats:  Students will begin working on hypthosis testing for a variance or standard deviation.  They will be asked to complete homework on page 445.  Also there will be a chapter 8 test at the end of the week.

Calculus:  Students will begin working on integrals as net change.  They will complete lesson 7-1 for homework.  Then they will move into lesson 7-2, Area between two curves and complete assignment 7-2 for homework.

Stats: Students will be completing hypothesis testing on proportions this week. The assignment will come from page 434, #'s 1-20. Also make sure you are working on your price is right project as its due date is May 7th.

Calculus: Students will begin working on integrals as net change and complete lesson 7-1 from the book.

Stats: Students will be working on Hypothesis testing involving the t-test for an mean and will complete lesson 8-4 for homework.

Calculus: Students will be working on compounded interest problems and will complete lesson 6-4. Chapter 6 test will be next Friday.

Week of 3/27

Statistics: Students will be working on lesson 8-3 found on page 414. They will also be gathering data and conducting hypothesis tests outside....So dress warm!!!!

Calculus: Students will be working on integration by parts and integration using tabular form. They will be asked to complete an assignment beginning on page 328 and also one taken from a college calculus book as extra practice.

Week of 3/19

Stats: Students will be working on determining confidence intervals for proportions, variances and standard deviations. Also they should be working on their price is right group project. Homework will be on page 374, 1-20.

Calculus: Students will be evaluating indefinite integrals by substitution and integration by parts this week. They will complete lessons 6-2 and 6-3 for homework.

Pssa Math: Students will complete their district test this week.

Week of March 5th

Stats: Students will work on confidence intervals for a population mean by completing problems on page 356. There will be a quiz on Friday about confidence intervals.

Calculus: Students will complete assignment on page 286 up to 40 evens. Then they will learn and complete lesson on using the trapezoid rule to estimate area found on page 295. Chapter 5 test will be on Friday.

Week of Feb 21

Stats: Students will do an activity to explore the Central Limit Theorem. On Friday they, will be assessed with their chapter 6 test.

Calculus: Students will evaluate problems about the mean value theorem on page 274. Then students will begin to apply the Fundamental theorems of Calculus to evaluate definite integral problems found on page 286.

Stats: Students will finish page 303 on area under a normal distribution. Then they will work on application problems found on page 316.

Calculus: Students will have a quiz on Tuesday about definite integrals and areas under a curve. Then they will begin evaluate mean values of definite integrals.

Week of January 30th

Stats: Chapter 5 test will be Thursday! Until then students will complete the remainder of page 263 and learn about poisson distributions.

Calculus: We started Chapter five today and we are working on LRAM, RRAM and MRAM. Students will be asked to complete lesson 5-1 as homework. Then we will compute defimite integrals and make connections between the computations and what we learned with RAM. Students will be asked to complete lesson 5-2 for an assignment.

Pssa math will be working on ordering and comparing real numbers.

Week of January 23

Statistics: Students will be working on the binomial formula, Pascals' Triangle and the Poisson distribution this week. Students will complete page 263, 2-25 and page 276, 7-12.

Calculus: At the start of the week, students will complete their related rates activity. Then, students will be learning how to graph slope fields of functions and how to sketch a curve of a function given information about its derivatives. Students will complete problems given in class.

Week of January 17th

Stats: Students will begin working on chapter 5, Probability Distributions. They will complete page 244 #'s 6-25 for homework. Then students will work on finding the mean, variance and standard deviation for probability distributions and complete an assignment on page 253 #'s 1-18.

Calculus: Students will begin the week by studying how the amplitude and period of a sinusoidial curve affect sound. Next, they will begin working on related rates and complete page 237 #'s 11, 13, 14, 20 and 22.
