Week of December 9th

Statistics:  Students will continue to work through lesson 4-4 on conditional probability.   A test on chapter 4 is scheduled before Christmas.  Please prepare.

Geometry:  This week we will begin working on square roots and the pythagorean theorem in chapter 12. 

Calculus:  We will continue to work on lessons 3-7 through 3-9 during this week.

Week of December 3rd

Statistics:  Students will be working on the addition and multiplication rules of probability.  They will complete an assignment on page 209 along with two worksheets on the addition rule.

Geometry:  We will have a test on chapter 11, similarity, later on this week.  Please prepare.

Calculus:  Test on lessons 3-7 through 3-9 will be on wednesday before moving into chapter 4.

Week of November 18th

Practical Geometry:   Students will be creating a blue print of the school main floor to serve as an assessment for scale drawing and proportions.

Stats:     Students will practice writing out sample spaces and comparing empirical probability to theoretical probability as they complete an assignment from lesson 4-2.

Calculus:  Students will complete lesson 3-7 and 3-8 from their book.  Expect a test on the remainder of chapter 3 before thanksgiving break.

Week of November 11

Stats:  This week we will begin chapter four on basic probability and counting rules.  Students will complete homework from lesson 4-2 on page 185.

Practical Geometry:  Studnts will work through chapter 10 on similarity this week.  They will cover lessons 10-1 through 10-3.  All assignments shall be completed within class.


Calculus:  Students will be given an extra project to complete explaining the chain rule for derivatives.  They will also begin working through implicit differentiation.  Homework will come from page 155.

Week of 11/4

Stats:  Students will be working on their bungee barbie projects and using linear regression to determine the length of the bungee cord needed by making predictions according to their regression equation.  Chapter 10 test will be on Friday.

Practical Geometry: We are continuing to work through Chapter 9: Area.  Each assignment is done in class and our test will be at the end of this week.

Calculus:  We are currently finishing up page 146, the chain rule for differentiation.  Test on lessons 3-5 and 3-6 will be on Wednesday.  Then we will be moving into implicit differentiation and completing an assignment on page 155.

Week of 10/21

Stats:  Chapter 3 test Friday.  Fast food projects are due Wednesday.  Page 144, #'s 9-17 for homework due on Tuesday.

Calculus:  Projectile motion worksheets for the week with test on lessons 3-3 and 3-4 Friday.

Geometry:  Test on chapter 8 Friday.  Properties of Quadrilaterals.

Week of October 15th

Statistics:  Students will continue to work on their fast food project by finding the range, variance and standard deviation for each data set.

Calculus:  Students will begin lesson 3-4 Velocity and other rates of change and have homework on page 129.

Geometry:  Students will begin learning about properties of quadrilaterals and complete lessons from chapter 8 in the book.

Week of September 23

Stats:  Students will construct graphs from problems found on page 27.  Test for shapter 2 will be on Wednesday.
Calculus:  Chapter 2 test on Tuesday.  Homework will be given on derivatives and found on page 101.

Geometry:  Test on Monday for polyhedrons.  Then we will be moving into congruent triangles and have homework on lessons 6.1-6.4.

Stats:  This week students will be presenting their chapter 9 lessons via power point.  Then they will be doing their final project before the final exam.

Calculus:  Students will continue to work on finding volumes of solids of revolution.

Practical Algebra 2:  Test on rational expressions will be on Monday.  Then we will continue with our keystone exam preparation.

Calculus:  Students will be working on area between curves. (Lesson 7-2) and volumes of solids of revolution.  (worksheet)


Practical Algebra 2:  Students will review simplifying, multiplying and dividing rational expressions before testing on Friday.

Week of 4/22

Calculus:  Students will complete lesson 7-2 from the book and then a worksheet from a college text.  Also please prepare for the integration by parts retest.

Statistics:  Students will finish chapter 8 by completing lesson 8-6 from the book and taking their chapter test on Thursday.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will learn to add and subtract rational expressions.  Then near the end of the week, students will test on rational expressions.

Week of 4-14

Stats:  Students will complete lessons 8-4 and 8-5 on hypothesis testing.

Calculus:  Students will complete lessons 7-1 and 7-2 on integration.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will begin working on operations involving algebraic fractions and simplifying algebraic fractions.  They will complete worksheets on each operation.

Week of April 8th

Stats:  We will be conducting our hypothesis test on the average speed of vehicles going through our schoolzone.  No bookwork will be assigned.

Calculus:  Students will be finishing chapter 6 by wednesday so please have them study for their test.  Also, the crime scene investigation is due on Tuesday and lesson 7-1 will be assigned likely Thursday.

Practical Algebra 2:  We will be finishing up factoring polynomials this week with a test near the end of the week.  Please have students complete worksheets on factoring and prepare for their test.

Week of 3/18

Stats:  We will start with the chapter 7 test this week before moving into chapter 8 hypothesis testing.  Homework will be found on page 404.

Calculus: We will continue to practice integration by substitution.  Then we will take a quiz on wednesday for lesson 6-1 and 6-2.  To finish the week, we will learn integration by parts and complete homework on page 328.

Practical Algebra 2:   Students will be working on graphing two variable inequality equations.

Week of 3/11

Stats:  This week we will be finishing up chapter 7 with homework on page 385 and then a chapter test later inthe week.

Calculus:  Students will complete an assignment from page 321 and then 328.  Both lesson will be focused around integration with the first being by substitution and the second by integration by parts.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will complete various worksheets on systems of equations and utilize all three methods learned in class to solve each set of equations.  Near the end of the week, students will take a chapter test on systems of equations.

Week of 3/4

Stats:  Students will be working on lesson 7-4, confidence intervals for proportions.  They will complete page 374 #'s 1-20.  Then they will work on finding confidence intervals for a variance and standard deviation and complete page 385, 1-16 for homework.

Calculus:  Students will begin working on indefinite integrals and initial value problems at the start of the week.  They will complete an assignment from page 313.  Then students will begin integration by substitution and complete page 321 for homwork.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will be taking their chapter 2 test on Tuesday morning.  Then they will be working on systems of equations for the remainder of the week.  Students will learn multiple methods for solving systems of equations and complete a worksheet on each method.

Week of February 25

Stats:  This week, we will be working on completing page 366 and a project for lesson 7-3 confidence intervals.  The project will also serve to be an early review for the final exam and therefore continued practice of past concepts.

Calculus:  We will be taking our chapter 5 test this week before exploring slope fields and indefintie integrals.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will be completing worksheets on Parallel lines, perpendicular lines, relations and functions.

Week of February 19th

Statistics:  Students will be working on confidence Intervals for a mean.  They will complete lessons 7-2 on page 358 and lesson 7-3 on page 366.  They will also have a quiz and a in class activity this week on confidence intervals.

Calculus:  Students will finish up working on definite integrals and move into the fundamental theorem of calculus.  Students will complete two assignments from a different text.

Practical Algebra 2:Students will start the week by reviewing permutations and combinations.  Then they will also review solving absolute value inequalities before they take their second test.  Next we will be moving into functions and relations where students will be asked to complete a related worksheet.

Week of Feb. 11th

Stats:  Capter 6 test on Tuesday.  Then we will begin chapter 7 on confidence intervals.

Calculus:  We will start the week by working on reimann sums and reviewing the four different estimation techniques.   Then students will evaluate definite integrals by hand.  Students will complete page 267 for homework.


Practical Algebra 2:  This week, we will spend a lot of time workin on inequalities, conjunctions and disjunctions.  Students will complete a worksheet for each type.  Also we will begin a unit on finding probabilities of simple events and applying the counting rules for permutations and combinations.

Week of February 4th

Statistics:  Homework will be about applications of z-scores and the normal distribution and will be found on page 316.  Also please begin to prepare for chapter 6 test.



Calculus:  Students will be learing about finding area under a curve by first estimation with rectangular approximation methods and then by definite integration.  Homework will be found on pages 254 and 267.



Practical Algebra 2:  Students will have homework from page 21 on solving equations, page 27 on solving inequalities, page 36 on working with absolute values and page 42 on determining probabilities.  Please study for Chapter 1 test the following Monday.

Week of January 28th

Stats:  Homeowrk will come from page 302 this week.  Please memorize charts and procedures on pages 291-292.

Practical Algebra 2:  Homework will come from lessons 1-3 through 1-6.  They will be found on pages 21, 29, 36 and 42.  These lessons will cover solving equations and inequalities along with simple probability.

Calculus:  Please study lessons 4-4 through 4-6 for your test on Wednesday.  Then we will have an assignement from lesson 5-1 on Thursday involving estimating with finite sums.

Week of January 21st.

Stats:  Students will be completing lesson 5-4 on the binomial distribution found on page 263 before taking their chapter 5 test on Wednesday.  Then we will begin chapter 6 on the normal curve and students will be expected to find the area under a standard normal curce using z-scores.  Finally, students will be asked to complete an assignment beginning on page 303 relating to lessons 6-2 and 6-3.

Practical Algebra 2:  Students will be working on developing their writing skills to free response mathematical problems.  In these problems students, will be asked to analyze a situation, solve it and justify their work with an explanation for each step.

Calculus:  Students will be finishing up the lesson on related rates by completing an assignment on page 237 before taking their chapter 4 part B test.  They will also model a related rate during an in class project.  Then we will begin working on finding area under a curve through the rectangular approximation method.

Week of January 14th

Statistics: After midterms have completed, students will begin working on the binomial distribution and complete an assignment on page 263.  Studnts should then prepare for the chapter 5 test.

Calculus:  After completing midterms, students will begin working on related rates and complete page 237.  After the assignment, students will complete a project where they have to construct a tower and motorize car using Knects to determine related rates.  Also begin preparing for your chapter 4B test whih covers lessons 4-4 through 4-6.

Practical Geometry: There will be no homework after the midterm.  However, students will be doing preparatory work for Algebra 2.

January 9th

Stats:  We are currently preparing for our midterm and will be completing chapter 5 after the midterm.  Last assignment was page 253.


Calculus:  This week we learned how to find a linear approximation to a function at a point and also Newton's method for approximating solutions to functions.  Next we will be conquering our midterm.

Practical Geometry:  Its has been a wonderful pleasure getting to know each student.  Good luck at vo-tech when the time comes and please prepare for your final.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Stats:  This week we will begin chapter 5 on probability distributions.  Homework will be taken from page 244.  Also, please study for your midterm!

Calculus:  Students will continue modeling optimization problems.  Homework will be found on page 214.  Please study for midterms.

Practical Geometry:  Students will finish working with radicals by rationalizing denominators and using conjugates for more complex fractions.  Please study for final.
